About this book

Samira Palmer has sworn off dating after a recent failed engagement. She’s all about her career now and doing great on her own. But then, out of the blue, she meets Jean-Baptiste Mercier, a charming French billionaire playboy. Despite their differences, they can’t deny the chemistry between them – can they make it work?

Book review

First, a warning – this book ends in a cliffhanger. I did not know that and am frustrated when I reached the end of the story and realized that I had to purchase the next book in the story to find out the conclusion between Samira and Baptiste. Urgh, how irritating is that!

For those of you though who don’t mind cliffhangers and having to purchase multiple books to finish a story, this is probably not a bad one to go with. The characters and dialogue were great and engaging. Baptiste is utterly charming and suave and not really an alpha hero like I was expecting with most billionaire romances. Samira stands up for herself, guards her heart and is a good person who does not care for Baptiste’s money.

There is not much of a plot going on, but the writing is masterful enough that I feel like an audience watching Baptiste launch his courtship of Samira right there. Both of them are pulled towards each other with an undeniable chemistry, yet have strong walls around their hearts with snippets of vulnerabilities showing through at times.

As much as I like the characters, this dance between Samira and Baptiste seems to go on forever which can be annoying, especially if it’s more of the same continuing through another book. The rest of the books in the series include a story of the friends mentioned in the book, who are again intriguing characters whom I would like to see more of (if I can get past the cliffhanger aspect, that is).
