About this book
We give up too easily. With a simple change of attitude, what seem like insurmountable obstacles become once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Ryan Holiday draws on the philosophy of the Stoics to guide you in every situation, showing that what blocks our path actually opens one that is new and better.
The Stoic philosophy – that what is in the way, is the way – can be applied to any problem.
Book review
I found this book very motivational and offers powerful insight into how obstacles should be viewed. The messages are centred around three themes: Perception, Action and Will. I drew a mindmap to summarize the key messages and my favourite quotes from the book:

This is a good book to read when you are feeling stuck; it will open your mind to new possibilities.
In particular, I loved the ending of the book which sums it all up:
“See things for what they are.
Do what we can.
Endure and bear what we must.
What blocked the path is now a path.
What once impeded action advances action.
The Obstacle is the Way.”
I hope you learnt something new from the book, and let me know what you think!
