Book review

This book was first published in 1936 and remains a bestseller which has sold millions of copies. This goes to show how timeless the advice provided by this book is, and how people continue to find them relevant and useful in today’s context.

I found the advice for managing human relationships very wise and relevant. While reading, I could also draw on personal experience where I have seen people acting along these principles and be successful in getting what they want while making others feel good about it.

The way the book was written was very engaging, using a conversational tone which feels as though the author is directly speaking to the reader. The book is punctuated with numerous stories and examples of how different political and business leaders demonstrated these principles. Since this book was originally written in the 30’s, the examples are taken from that era, so it also feels like a peek into history.

This is definitely a useful book to read for everyone. Other than effective communication skills to get your point across, it is also important to maintain good relationships with people in the process. This book certainly equips the reader with practical and proven advice to achieve this.
